MSCI Global Value and Growth Indices
A consistent and clear view for international style investors
Defining "growth" and "value" companies across markets can be a challenge for global asset managers. Is a company primarily defined as a growth or value company? How can pension fund managers and consultants identify whether a style manager really falls within an investment mandate?
MSCI Global Value and Growth Indices provide a clear, consistent style definition of securities, using a rigorous approach.
The indices are constructed using a unique holdings-based style approach that provides a precise definition of style using eight historical and forward-looking fundamental data points for every security. Each security is placed into either the Value or Growth Indices, or may be partially allocated to both (with no double counting).
In addition to serving as benchmarks for value and growth funds, the MSCI Global Value & Growth Indices may also be used by pension plans and consultants to select and monitor Value and Growth managers. The individual security level style data may also be applied to portfolios to conduct holdings-based style analysis of the portfolio over time. Asset managers may also use the indices to look at style trends using the historical index returns, avoid style drift, and understand the source of a company's performance.
