Hedge Funds

In July 2002, MSCI established the MSCI Hedge Fund Indices and Database to serve as a meaningful basis for conducting peer group analysis, designed to provide:

• Broad and precise representation of the hedge fund universe
• Transparent index construction methodology
• Consistent and granular classification of hedge funds into strategies
• Flexible index design

Launched in July 2003, the MSCI Hedge Invest Index contains investable funds having weekly liquidity. The index can be the basis of index linked financial products and is intended to:

• Represent the range of hedge fund strategies on a third party managed account platform
• Contain a diverse sample of hedge funds
