MSCI China Indices
Reflecting the diversity of the Chinese investment universe and the variety of investment approaches to China

Aimed at both international and domestic investors in the Chinese market, including QDII* and QFII* licensees, the MSCI China Indices consist of a range of country, composite and non-domestic indices. These include the flagship MSCI China A Index and the MSCI Broad China Index, a representative sample for the entire Chinese investment universe, combining A, H, B, Red and P Chip share classes as well as Hong Kong-listed companies.

MSCI China A Indices

Created specifically for the China A share market, the MSCI China A Indices are designed to provide performance benchmarks for a broad section of investors currently investing in the A share market, including those with a value or growth style focus. The index design takes into consideration the unique characteristics of the A share market and aims to reflect the investment process and constraints of domestic A share investors.

The MSCI China A Value and Growth Indices and the MSCI China A Absolute Value and Absolute Growth Indices provide representations of the opportunity sets available to style managers, and reflect two distinct methods of defining and segmenting the China A market.

MSCI China Index and MSCI Hong Kong Index

The MSCI China Index and the MSCI Hong Kong Index are constructed according to the MSCI Standard Index Series Methodology. In line with other MSCI Standard Indices, these two country indices are currently transitioning to an enhanced methodology - the MSCI Global Investable Market Indices Methodology (GIMI) - the final phase of which becomes effective as of May 31, 2008.

Composite Indices

The composite indices aim to reflect the investment opportunity available by combining domestic and non-domestic China equities. The most comprehensive of these indices is the MSCI Broad China Index, which combines the MSCI China, MSCI Hong Kong and MSCI China A Indices.
