System Requirements

Steps to Confirm

Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher with 128-bit encryption

1. Start your IE browser.

2. Go to the Help menu.

3. Choose About Internet Explorer.

4. Check the Version and Cipher Strength.

1024x768 Screen Resolution

1. Right-click your desktop.

2. Choose the Properties menu item.

3. Select the Settings tab in the Display Properties window.

4. Check the Screen area setting.

Medium or High Security Level

BarraOne can operate under the default Security Level (Medium) as well as more restrictive levels/settings. You or your administrator may choose to place BarraOne into the Trusted Sites group. Please review the following options for specific settings that need to be taken into consideration.

If you would like to add BarraOne to your trusted sites, follow these steps:

1. Start your IE browser.

2. Go to the Tools menu.

3. Choose Internet Options...

4. Select the Security tab in the Internet Options window.

5. Choose Trusted Sites as the Web content zone.

6. Click Sites and add https://www.barraone.com to the list of web sites, if it isn't there already (note the "https" prefix). Then click OK.

7. Click the Custom Level. button.

8. Check that the Reset custom settings dropdown is set to Medium or High. Then click OK.

Allow Active Scripting:

  • Enabled

1. Start your IE browser.

2. Go to the Tools menu.

3. Choose Internet Options...

4. Select the Security tab in the Internet Options window.

5. Choose zone through which you will access BarraOne. If BarraOne has been added to Trusted Sites, select that zone, otherwise select the Internet zone.

6. Click the Custom Level button.

7. Under Scripting, verify that Active scripting is enabled.

Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections:

  • Checked for exporting BarraOne reports

1. Start your IE browser.

2. Go to the Tools menu.

3. Choose Internet Options...

4. Select the Advanced tab in the Internet Options window.

5. Under HTTP 1.1 settings, verify that Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections is checked on.

Do not save encrypted pages to disk:

  • Unchecked for exporting BarraOne reports

This setting is optional. If checked, you will have to save exported reports to your local drive before opening in another application.

1. Start your IE browser.

2. Go to the Tools menu.

3. Choose Internet Options...

4. Select the Advanced tab in the Internet Options window.

5. Under Security settings, verify that Do not save encrypted pages to disk is not checked.

 

The following settings apply only to importing data into BarraOne via the Import tab. If you do not need to import data directly into BarraOne, the following settings may be ignored. For importing data via the BarraOne web interface, you can use either a default HTML page (highest security) or download a Barra signed and provided ActiveX control. Additionally, data importing can be configured via the BarraOne DataConnect utility; please contact Client Service for more information.

Download signed ActiveX controls (optional):

  • Enable or Prompt to download Barra's signed ActiveX control for importing
  • Disable to prevent download

1. Start your IE browser.

2. Go to the Tools menu.

3. Choose Internet Options...

4. Select the Security tab in the Internet Options window.

5. Choose zone through which you will access BarraOne. If BarraOne has been added to Trusted Sites, select that zone, otherwise select the Internet zone.

6. Click the Custom Level... button.

7. Under ActiveX controls and plug-ins, check that Download signed ActiveX controls is set according to your firm's security requirements.

Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins (optional):

  • Enable or Prompt to use ActiveX importing
  • Disable to use HTML importing

4. Select the Security tab in the Internet Options window.

5. Choose zone through which you will access BarraOne. If BarraOne has been added to Trusted Sites, select that zone, otherwise select the Internet zone.

6. Click the Custom Level... button.

7. Under ActiveX controls and plug-ins, check that Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins is set to according to your firm's security requirements.

MDAC (Microsoft Data Access Components) 2.6 or higher

Not needed for Windows XP

Download and run Microsoft's Component Checker utility, available from the Microsoft

 

 

BarraOne Settings

Steps to Confirm

Language & Country: Match Windows® Regional Options

1. Login to BarraOne.

2. Click My Profile to the right of BarraOne's tabs.

3. In the Regional Options column, choose the Language & Country setting you want.

4. Open your Windows® Control Panel > Regional Options and verify that they match the Language & Country setting in BarraOne.

Enable ActiveX Import

1. Login to BarraOne.

2. Click My Profile to the right of BarraOne's tabs.

3. In the Display Settings column, under Enable ActiveX Import, select Yes if your security policy allows the downloading and running of signed ActiveX controls. If you prefer to block ActiveX controls and use only standard HTML pages, choose No for this setting.
